Veneer

Veneers are a thin tooth casing used to protect the teeth surface from any damage or to improve the aesthetic appearance of damaged teeth. Veneers are of two types based on the material used for the production. The materials used are dental composite and porcelain. At MSR Dental Hospital, our team of best qualified and well-experienced dental specialists fabricates veneers at our own hi-tech laboratory as per customer requirement. Veneers are attached either by using multi-shade resin cement or by direct built up on the teeth. At MSR Dental Hospital, we have most modern and sophisticated machinery to perform all dental procedures.

Veneers nowadays is a popular fixation used in the cosmetic dentistry and provide a uniform color, shape and proportion to all teeth thereby improving the aesthetic appearance of the teeth and smile.

Veneers are recommended for patients with following conditions on the teeth:

  • Discoloration or staining of the teeth
  • Presence of cavities
  • Enamel defects
  • Short or irregular teeth
  • Gum recession causing black discoloration between the teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Crooked teeth

Veneer procedure

Veneers can be installed in two methods: Direct build up or indirect method. Steps involved in both these procedures are discussed below:

Clinical assessment: The dentist identifies any oral health distress in the teeth before the veneer installation. With the use of imaging technology best shade of veneer is chosen and a preview of the desired result is provided for the patient before the treatment procedure. The patient can discuss the requirement with the dentist and choose accordingly.

Preparation of the tooth: The dentist administers a dose of local anesthetic and initiates the tooth reshaping process.

During a direct build up method, veneers are crafted and shaped from the best matching composite shade and hardened using a curing light. If required, additional layers are applied to shape and polish the veneer in the exact shape of the specimen tooth to create a natural look.

In the indirect method, an impression is obtained from the teeth that have to be cased and send to the in-house lab for molding the veneers. The dental technician uses CAD/CAM technology to fabricate the perfect veneer and is bonded to the teeth using resin cement.

The patient can decide whether veneer is the best option by discussing the requirement with the dentist. The type of veneer used is based on several factors including the time, budget, and type of built up required for the patient. Here we are listing few of the advantages of both composite and porcelain veneer.

Advantages of composite veneers

  • Veneer fitting can be completed in a single sitting
  • Requires less tooth preparation.
  • Composite veneer is affordable

Advantages of Porcelain Veneers
